How to Start a General Survey with Kaleidoscope (Advanced)
10 am EDT | 14:00 UTC
Learn how to use Kaleidoscope analysis software to populate a general species survey, starting with how to prepare a spreadsheet. We’ll use cluster analysis to generate a list of species from our sample recordings, address when a species may arrive or leave an environment (and how to track that over time), discuss measuring relative species abundance, and handling rare and so-far-not-found species. Finally, we’ll build a simple classifier to show how multiple species can be found and labeled as part of an ongoing survey. BirdNET integration will be also discussed and demonstrated. At each step, we’ll examine how to use Kaleidoscope efficiently to save you time in the long run. A Kaleidoscope Pro trial license and sample recordings will be provided for you to play along in class.
