An Acoustics Quality Control Fireside Chat

5pm EDT | 10 pm BST | 21:00 UTC

An Acoustics Quality Control Fireside Chat is a practical, experience-driven training focused on improving the reliability and consistency of bat acoustic data. Rather than walking through software workflows or prescribing rigid protocols, this course takes a step back and looks at the decisions and small oversights that ultimately shape data quality in the field. Structured as a conversational “fireside chat,” the training draws from real-world experiences across a wide range of projects, equipment setups, and field conditions. Through a combination of anecdotes and applied reasoning, participants are guided through the full lifecycle of an acoustic survey, from pre-field preparation through data verification. This course is designed as a beginner-level training but is relevant to practitioners at all experience levels. New users will gain exposure to common pitfalls before encountering them in the field, while experienced biologists may recognize and refine aspects of their existing workflows.
